There is a constant beauty, surrounding our lives, seemingly going unnoticed.
I strive to capture this beauty and the essence of the human spirit. People going about their daily lives, along with our inspiring landscapes, nature and structures that surround us. My work captures those potentially missed moments in life with live sketching or in Plein-Air. Revealing those moments often missed, telling a story with images on paper, through sculpture, clay or ceramics. Line, pattern and light also play a very important roll in my work. Concentrating on the quality, simplification and shape of the line, I strive to keep the same feeling that was created with a pencil sketch. Using Oleo paper, I redraw the image with watercolors and oil sticks, egg tempra, gouache, sculpting or any other means to get my point across. Retention of the sketch and line quality are what I find to be most important.
Classically and commercially educated at the ArtCenter College of Design, in Pasadena, Ca. Living in NYC and working also in LA and Europe in the late 1980’s and 1990’s. Commercially Illustrating and Designing for Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Harley Davidson, Playboy, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and many Advertising Agencies and Design Studios, etc. An Award-winning Artist, showing privately, solo and group shows, libraries galleries and museums in California, New Jersey and New York City, receiving commissions both private and commercial. I studied intermittently at the Art Students League under sculptor Jonathan Shahn, Newark Museum, participating in Plein-Air Painting in the New Jersey/New England Area, taught at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. I am also a member of the National Association of Women Artists. I currently live in New Jersey.

A Featured Artist at the ADArt Show 2020 in the Oculus at the Westfield in the World Trade Center, New York City, the month of September, 2020 and online Gallery at Artsy.net. Also announcing my recent inclusion in the Swann Galleries Auction House in New York City. These were pieces I illustrated for the Polo Ralph Lauren Stadium Collections in the 1990's. There will be future Auctions that will include logos, series images and original wildlife illustrations from various Polo Ralph Lauren Collections.
As an accomplished Commercial Illustrator and Designer, Julie’s clients have included Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Harley Davidson, Playboy, ESPN and The New York Times, etc. An Award-winning Artist, showing privately, solo and group shows, libraries, galleries and museums in California, New Jersey and New York City, receiving commissions both private and commercial. Her illustrations have recently been auctioned by Swann Auction Galleries in New York City. She studies intermittently at the Art Students League under sculptor Jonathan Shahn and participates in Plein-Air Painting in the New Jersey/New England Area. She is also a member of the National Association of Women Artists.
